The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has said that women are important part of any society. He added that we could make a free society by giving them protection and their due rights.
On the International Day for the elimination of violence against women, he said in his special message that MQM has always raised voice against crime and violence against women since its inception. He added that in order to provide them complete protection to them in our society MQM introduced the Bill for Protection of Women in the National Assembly and got it passed. He said that ‘Women Protection Bill’ should be implemented in letter and spirit and people who abuse women should be punished.
Mr Hussain deplored the way women are treated in our society. He expressed condemnation of mistreatment of women in our society and said women were killed in our country in the name of cruel practices such as Vanni, karo Kari and Vatta Satta. Violence against women and throwing of acid on their faces have been a daily routine. He lamented these horrible crimes against women gave us the impression we were still living in dark ages.
“Islam gives protection to women and tells us to respect them. We can reform our society by preventing crime against women and make it a true Islamic society. It gives me great pleasure to see that my struggle for women’s rights have proved fruitful and they are fighting against injustices with bravery,” said Mr. Hussain.
Mr. Hussain has demanded that the government should implement the laws made for their protection of rights and take effective measures to curb violence against them.
