Why did we create Pakistan? I put put this question to petitioner.

Posted in Karachi, MQM, News on 22.05.13

Altaf should be removed from his position as the party head, says Advocate Fayyaz Ahmed Mehr. He has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court.

The petitioner thinks he has threatened the Election Commission, the establishment, the media, political workers and politicians.

Mr. Hussain is a popular leader. Everyone in Pakistan turns its guns towards him. The question is: the citizens who are criticising Mr. Hussain should first take a look at the actions of the state and national leaders in Karachi. Neither the state organizations should any interest to improve law and order situation in Karachi nor leaders belonging to big national parties has tried to address the burning issues facing by the Urdu-speaking.

The state must provide security to its citizens. We see that they have failed to do this in Karachi. The residents of Karachi were forced to look towards MQM and its activists for protection. Who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of young man in Karachi. We should be ashamed. People are dying in Karachi and and power hungry people from Punjab were trying to play politics.

Who will bring peace in Karachi?

Why did we create Pakistan?
I put put this question to petitioner.

Pakistan was created because Muslims of the India thought that Hindu majority would treat them badly. We sons of the Indian Immigrants who are called Mohajirs are facing the same problem. Majority groups have been killing us for decades and no one has uttered any word on treatment meted out us. We are human beings too.

Altaf Hussain dissolved the party’s Karachi Tanzeemi Committee

Posted in MQM on 22.05.13

Express Tribune has reported that Mr. Hussain has dissolved Karachi Tanzeemi Committee. The paper says this decision was taken on the complaints of workers. They complained that the committee was not working properly.  Mr. Hammad Siddiqui was the head of the committee. Dawn.com has reported:

MQM’s top posts are expected in Karachi as well as London.

Hussain said a new system will be introduced under which no office-bearer would be able to remain on a particular party slot for more than three years.

Indication of top level changes by Mr. Hussain indicates that he has felt that the leaders have failed to do their duties. Who will be new bosses in Karachi and London is an important question?

The important part of Mr. Hussain’s speech is that he has appealed to former members to come forward and lead the party.  The big question is: Will these former members return to party at time when a new government will take the reigns of power.

The arrival of Imran Khan’s PTI party on Karachi’s political landscape is unsettling for the city’s biggest stakeholder, the MQM. BBC

Posted in Karachi, MQM on 19.05.13

The brutal murder of PTI’s  senior leader in Karachi has created panic in the city. PTI’s chief blames Mr. Hussain for the murder. It is tool early to tell who has killed Zahra Hussain. PTI’s supporters are blaming MQM because he openly threatened them in a speech.

Shahzeb Jillani thinks that arrival of PTI on Karachi’s political landscape has panicked PTI. I agree with him.  He wrote:

The arrival of Imran Khan’s PTI party on Karachi’s political landscape is unsettling for the city’s biggest stakeholder, the MQM. PTI’s growing popularity is rooted in young voters, women and the educated middle class. These are more or less the same segments of the electorate MQM claims to have represented for nearly three decades.

I think MQM leaders should try to reorganize their party instead of showing violent reaction at the emergence of PTI in Karachi.

Even if Imran Khan’s PTI does well in Karachi’s re-run of voting, the results won’t change the big picture. However, it will give PTI an influential foothold in Pakistan’s commercial capital, something MQM will see as a major setback.

MQM needs to tread cautiously. International media has also started writing about the party.

Will British government put a ban on Mr. Hussain?

Posted in General, Karachi, MQM on 15.05.13

British High Commissioner Adam Thomson took notice of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s statements  of “separating Karachi” on Wednesday, reported Express News.

Thousands of complaints were sent to the London metropolitan police after Altaf addressed his supporters in Karachi where he allegedly threatened PTI supporters who were protesting against rigging.

Altaf also said that Karachi should be separated from Pakistan if the mandate given to the MQM by the people is not acceptable.

The news reports indicates that British authorities will take action against him. They do not want to strain their relation with the new elected government in Pakistan.

Mr. Hussain’s opponents took advantage of his mistake and attacked. I know this will not end his grip over his supporters for the time being.  However, British government decides to ban on his speeches, it will prove disastrous for him and the party. I don’t why did he give such an inflammatory statement.  He was trying create supporters in Punjab. His statement has dented his image.

MQM is still the undisputed king of Karachi.

Posted in Karachi, MQM on 08.05.13

Fear of bomb attacks has forced parties to cancel their big gatherings.  There is no doubt this will affect the turn out on the election day in Karachi. MQM haters are saying that the party will loose some of its seats because JI and emergence of PTI in Karachi.  I don’t think so.

MQM has field candidates on  national and 42 provincial assembly seats of Karachi. The ANP has nominated 15 candidates, PTI 19 and JI 12 candidates. The PMLN has also contesting from 5 seats. JUI-F has also fielded candidates on seven seats.

Pundits are saying that MQM will loose seats. However, you will see that division of votes will put many seats in MQM’s bag.  Pakhtoon votes will be divided between ANP, JI and JUI-F. This will help MQM.  In some areas, Punjabi voters will also vote for Jammat-Islami.

The Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen is a new player in Karachi. It can divide PPP votes in many constituency.

Bhuttoism is dead among the people of Lyari because of poverty, deprivation, miseries..

Posted in Karachi, MQM, News on 06.05.13

Bhuttoism is dead among the people of Lyari because of poverty, deprivation, miseries, shortages of clean drinking water and electricity, joblessness and poor law and order situation.

The chief of Karachi City Alliance, Sardar Uzair Jan Baloch has said these word.

I am shocked to the the situation in Lyari. It was a stronghold of PPP. Now it appears that people of the area are extremely angry with the PPP. The Business Recorded reported:

Ahead of May 11 polls, Lyari’s streets and roads are eerily silent, as only right-wing political groups are taking out rallies and staging corners meetings to mobilise electoral support. Lyari in the past used to give a much different look ahead of elections, as Baloch youth would dance on the hypnotic beat of Leva, people used to proudly carry body paintings of PPP’s election symbol of ‘arrow’ and loud party music was much in vogue during the party’s polls drive.

We all have been watching what been happening in Lyari.  The people of Lyari are going through an ordeal since PPP government came to power.

How would MQM run its election campaign?

Posted in Karachi, MQM on 01.05.13

How would MQM run its election campaign? This is everything is thinking in Karachi. Yesterday, a woman an activist from MQM came to my house and delivered me pamphlets. I admired the courage of the lady from the women’s wing who is going from door to door to convince people to vote for MQM.

MQM is blaming government agencies for the present crisis. I think it is wrong to blame them. They have been in coalition for five years and could use the state apparatus to eliminate to Taliban in the city. How would they expect this from the interim government to do that?

The question is: Who is to be blamed for the crisis in three provinces? Is some from the government telling Taliban to kill the leaders of MQM, PPP and ANP.

We have to find answer for this question. There is no doubt Taliban is attacking MQM offices. They are doing this hurt MQM’s election campaign. Faisal should give us in detail why Taliban is doing this .  I accept that Taliban’s action will help PMLN and JI win many seats. It does not mean PMLN and JI are paying them hurt them.

It is wrong to say that Taliban is an armed wing of Jamaat Islami. Yes, Jamaat supports their ideology a little.

Haider Abbas Rizvi talked about his party’s performance. What performance has MQM shown?  People will again vote for MQM because they do not expect any good from PMLN. Mr. Shahbaz’s statement on power crisis has dismayed Karachi’s resident.

MQM should use the power of social media. Has it a team to do that?

Posted in Karachi, MQM on 29.04.13

MQM had to cancel its women’s convention because of a security threat.  MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan told the press that that police told them that militants had plan to attack the gathering. I think MQM took the right decision by canceling the event.

The party has decided to use social social media and other forums to approach their voters. They have decided to use Twitter and Facebook to carry out their election campaigns. Public gatherings have become too risky.

Khawaja Izharul Hassan claimed that they were very vocal on social media. I don’t think so. We see few some people representing them who love to bash people. They must respond with calm and restrain to people who put tough question. They should not worry about trolls. They pay attention to their genuine voters who are on social media and they love to interact with their leaders.

Baton-wielding Shariah unacceptable: Altaf Hussain

Posted in Karachi, MQM on 28.04.13

MQM’s Chief has said that Baton-wielding Shariah is not acceptable. He is right, but he cannot push them out of the city alone. He needs the supports of all the political parties and police and rangers to do that. However, these organizations and agencies are not willing to support him because of their bias.

He said :

Baton-wielding Shariah is unacceptable to us. We want enlightened and educated Pakistan.

Islam preaches no use of force.

These are good words for public consumption. I am a Karachi resident and I don’t see any policy by the government to tackle this menace.

He said in his speech that a conspiracy has been hatched to keep liberal political parties out of the electoral process. Who are these liberal parties? We have seen the abusive behaviors of people affiliated with political parties on the social media
