What did PPP, MQM and ANP do to curb terrorism?

Posted in ANP, Karachi, MQM, Pakistan on 27.04.13

The terrorist attacks on the PPP, MQM and ANP are obviously condemnable and cannot be condoned yet these parties have to blame themselves for what they are facing today.

Not only during their just-completed five-year rule they failed to evolve any counter-terrorism strategy, they had also not made any serious effort to check terrorism and control the law and order situation.

I agree with Mr. Anwar Abbasi. The PPP,MQM and ANP did nothing to curb the growing extremism and militancy in the country.

ANP and MQM should fight Taliban jointly: Altaf Hussain

Posted in ANP, Karachi, MQM on 17.04.13

MQM’s Chief has proposed to ANP to fight Taliban terrorists jointly. I support Mr. Hussain proposal and ask ANP leaders to support him on this issue.

Dawn.com has reported:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain called Awami National Party President Asfandyar Wali on Tuesday and stressed the need for launching a joint struggle to counter terrorism.

According to a statement released from London, Mr Hussain told the ANP chief that while Punjab was the only province where a peaceful poll campaign was going on, fear and panic was being spread in the remaining three provinces.

He said the parties being targeted by terrorists in Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan would have to chalk out a plan to stop terrorist attacks.

I agree with Mr. Hussain. There is no doubt situation in smaller provinces are not good.  However, we should not blame Punjab for the mess. SIndh’s own leaders are responsible for the mess. There is no love lost between rural and urban leaders of Sindh. This situation enables Punjab to interfere in Sindh and exploit the situation.

SIndh’s leaders will have to put their house in order before blaming Punjab. Lawlessness and violence in Sindh tells us about the mismanagement of coalition partners.

Senior National leaders should not give this kind of statement.

Whether only Punjab is Pakistan because it is the only province where electioneering is being carried out freely while the worst kind of terrorism is continuing in the other three provinces.

On this day MQM’s procession was attacked by people from the Pakhtun-dominated Sohrab Goth area. Scores of people died in the attack.  This incident set off a crisis in the city which has claimed thousands of lives.

No attempt was made to bring peace in the city. Instead government, agencies and political rivals used the friction between the community for their benefits. Thousands of lives have been destroyed by criminals. Killings is still going on.

Police in Karachi seems to be helpless. Extortionists are brazenly killing people. On Saturday, a group of people affiliated with ANP leader Jannat Gul entered the meat market located Al-Asif Square in Sohrab Goth.

They demanded extortion money from the shopkeepers, which resulted in scuffle, and they escaped from the market. They returned to the market with automatic weapons and fired upon the shoppers who had fought with them. Four people died in the incident. These people fled when police arrived. They came back again when the police left and attacked them again.

This video report tells us that how this criminal fought with the police. Government should take stern action against them and punish them.

Punjabi and Pakhtoon leaders want to use Afaq Khan again for their political game

Posted in ANP, Karachi, MQM on 23.03.12

The Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqqiq chief Afaq plans to open its its secretariat in Islamabad. The party chairman made this decision after meating different parties officiallly and unofficially. According to reports, they met with PMLN leaders unffocially. Afaq said:

These parties assured Afaq Ahmed of their full cooperation to his party’s political activities across the country.

It (MQM-H) would also shift its headquarters from Landhi to Clifton or Defence to more actively carry out its political and organisational activities (in Karachi).

The party Chairman blamed that MQM was creating hurdles in their political activities. That’s why they took the decision to move  their office to Islamamad. He thinks this will enable his party to plan their activities for the next elections.

Every party has a right to carry out its political activities. This development shows that establishment, and some Punjabi and Paktoon leaders wanted to use him again  against MQM in Karachi. News reports in the press and electronic media has confirmed that ANP  has extended their support to them.

ANP Senator Zahid Khan gave yes some clue what compelled what coerced ANP workers to take this action. His statement with the geo signified that channel transmission was stopped when the press conference of Afaq Khan and ANP leaders were being shown on the channels. He lamented that cable operators switched off the transmission by the order of someone.
